About Us

In November 2012, I made the decision to sell my scaffolding business (United Scaffolding) to WACO International, a global corporation based in South Africa. After overseeing the transition, I retired from the industry in March 2020, though I still keep a watchful eye on my old company as it evolves under new leadership.

Now, my wife and I are living our dream on a property we’ve lovingly developed over the past 16 years. Nestled below the Pisa Mountain Range and near the tranquil shores of Lake Dunstan, Poplar Estate is our sanctuary—a beautiful lifestyle property on the 45th Parallel, close to Wanaka in New Zealand’s stunning South Island.

Here at Poplar Estate, we have cultivated two boutique vineyards, where we grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Our estate is also a venue for weddings and functions, set in a heritage orchard adorned with commissioned stainless steel artwork, nestled among native plantings. It’s a place where guests can relax, enjoy a glass or two of our wine, and listen to the soothing sounds of birdlife.

Though we’ve left the fast-paced business world behind, our lives remain full of activity and excitement as we continue to nurture this beautiful place we now call home.
