Poplar Estate Cottage is a modern, beautifully finished retreat set within the peaceful grounds of our Central Otago property.
Designed for comfort, privacy, and ease, the cottage features two spacious queen bedrooms, each with its own heat pump, Smart TV, and soft, calming décor.
Guests enjoy two contemporary bathrooms with quality fittings, plush towels, and underfloor heating for a warm start to the day.
The open‑plan living area is inviting and relaxed, offering comfortable seating, a large Smart TV, and a Sonos sound system for unwinding after your adventures.
A fully equipped kitchen makes self‑catering simple, with everything you need from breakfast through to dinner.
The adjoining laundry includes a washer, dryer, and essentials for longer stays.
Step outside to a sheltered, heated veranda overlooking the estate grounds — the perfect spot for morning coffee or a quiet glass of our wine.
Guests have access to a large BBQ, two kayaks, and an electric bike available for hire. A complimentary continental breakfast for two can be provided (24 hour notice please).
The cottage is ideally located for exploring the region, with cafés and vineyard restaurants in Cromwell, Bannockburn, Queenstown, and Wanaka all within easy reach. The Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail begins just at the bottom of our road, offering effortless access for riders.
During your stay, you’re welcome to visit our fully stocked roadside stall featuring spray‑free produce from the estate, or purchase a bottle of our Pinot Noir, Rosé, Chardonnay or Riesling to enjoy.
Guests can also take a small bucket of nuts and wander down to feed the sheep — they love meeting visitors.
With private parking, easy access, and peaceful surroundings, Poplar Estate Cottage offers a restful and memorable base for your Central Otago stay.
Guest Access
Guests enjoy exclusive access to Poplar Estate Cottage and the surrounding vineyard grounds. Stroll through the vines, wander the heritage orchard, or relax by the pond — all set within a private, secure 20‑acre working estate.
As an operating vineyard and rural property, you may see staff tending the vines or caring for the animals. You’re welcome to explore at your leisure, visit the sheep, and enjoy the peaceful open spaces; we simply ask that all gates are left exactly as you found them to ensure the safety of our animals.
Poplar Estate offers a refined, tranquil environment where guests can unwind, explore, and experience the charm of a luxury working estate.
Other Things To Note
Privacy respected: The cottage is fully private. We live in the main house about 300 meters away and won’t disturb you unless you need us.
• Contacting us: If you need assistance, call or text Bill on 027 432 5822, or come to the main house. We’re usually on the property and happy to help.
• Exploring the estate: You’re welcome to wander the vineyard, orchard, and pond area, and to visit the sheep. If you open a gate, please leave it exactly as you found it.
• Sheep visits: The sheep love meeting guests. Please only feed them the nuts provided, and supervise children at all times.
• Rosie the dog: We have a miniature Schnauzer named Rosie. She’s friendly and loves meeting new people, but only if you’re comfortable with dogs. If you prefer not to interact with her, just let us know and we’ll ensure she keeps her distance.
• Roadside stall: You’re welcome to visit our produce stall and purchase estate-grown items during your stay.
• Kayaks & e‑bike: Two kayaks are available for guest use, and one electric bike is available for hire. Please use them safely and return them in good condition.
• Breakfast: A complimentary continental breakfast for two can be provided with 24 hour notice please.
• Respect the land: This is a working rural property. Please stay on marked paths where possible and be mindful of animals, equipment, and irrigation.
• No parties or events: To maintain the peaceful environment for all guests and neighbors.
• Farm Tour: Cottage guests are welcome to walk the farm any time — or join us for a guided Farm Tour.
